Acceptable Use Policy
What you can and cannot do on the platform
Effective Date: 10 April 2026 · Last Updated: 10 April 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy defines the rules for using the Run Mad Maps platform. It exists to protect the integrity of our data, the fairness of our leaderboards, and the experience of all athletes on the platform.
2. You Must Not
2.1 Data Integrity Violations
- Upload fabricated, manipulated, or artificially generated GPS activity data.
- Use GPS spoofing software or devices to falsify your location during activities.
- Split a single activity into multiple uploads to manipulate scoring.
- Upload activities performed by someone else under your account.
- Manipulate activity type labels (declaring a drive as a trail run, etc.).
- Use any method to artificially inflate your Runner Performance Score, elevation gains, or pace metrics.
2.2 Platform Abuse
- Use automated scraping tools, bots, or crawlers to collect data from the Platform.
- Attempt to access other athletes' data, accounts, or scores.
- Interfere with the Platform's infrastructure, security, or performance.
- Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities instead of reporting them.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or manipulate leaderboards.
2.3 Intellectual Property Violations
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to reconstruct any RMM scoring formula or algorithm.
- Systematically test the Platform to map formula behaviour, thresholds, or weights.
- Copy or redistribute RMM route descriptions, map content, or branding.
- Use RMM data or outputs to develop a competing service.
2.4 Community Standards
- Post offensive, threatening, or discriminatory content on any RMM platform.
- Harass other athletes, event participants, or RMM staff.
- Impersonate another athlete or public figure.
3. Our Anti-Gaming System
Every activity uploaded to RMM is processed through our automated anti-gaming validation system. This system runs ten independent checks including GPS mismatch detection, speed anomaly detection, fabricated GPS detection, elevation manipulation detection, and others.
Activities flagged by this system may be excluded from your scoring and leaderboard placement. If a flag is classified as "review" severity, a human will review the activity before any penalty is applied. If a flag is classified as "suppress" severity, the activity is automatically excluded from scoring.
Repeated or deliberate violations may result in permanent account termination.
4. Reporting Violations
If you believe another athlete is violating this policy, please contact us at valkenrunningmad@gmail.com with any evidence you have. All reports are reviewed confidentially.
5. Consequences
Violations of this policy may result in one or more of the following actions, at our discretion:
- Removal of specific activities from scoring and leaderboards
- Temporary suspension of your account
- Permanent termination of your account
- Reporting to relevant authorities if the violation involves illegal activity
- Legal action for intellectual property theft or platform abuse
6. Bug Bounty
If you discover a security vulnerability or a way to manipulate the scoring system, we ask that you report it to us at valkenrunningmad@gmail.com rather than exploiting it. Responsible disclosure is appreciated and will be acknowledged.
